Crystal Bay is home to some of the oldest private-estates and casinos on the lake. One local resort, the Cal-Neva Lodge, was owned by Frank Sinatra from 1960 to 1963 and turned into a haven for famous Hollywood celebrities and performers. Sinatra’s association with a more ‘infamous’ celebrity, Sam Giancana of Chicago ultimately cost him his gaming license and shut the resort down for over 20 years before being re-opened in 1985. Today, the Cal-Neva Resort, Spa and Casino is one of many active gaming facilities in Crystal Bay along with the Tahoe Biltmore, Crystal Bay Casino, and Jim Kelley’s Tahoe Nugget.
